Job summary

Observable Space seeks a Mechanical Engineer to drive structural analysis, STOP analyses, and thermal analysis for optomechanical systems from concept through production and deployment.

You will own component and subsystem analysis while collaborating with design, optics, electrical, software, manufacturing, and test teams. This is a hands-on role requiring prototype fabrication and field support, with hybrid LA office options.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in aerospace/optics/precision equipment industries.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/NX/Creo).
• Experience with stress, thermal, vibration analyses.
• Hands-on assembly, testing, and fabrication support.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEA for stress, thermal, vibration and environmental conditions.
• Develop detailed FE models from 3D CAD data or drawings.
• Lead structural test campaigns to verify analyses and design assumptions.
• Participate in STOP analyses and system verification activities.
• Collaborate with optics, electrical, manufacturing, and test teams.
• Support fabrication, assembly, alignment, environmental testing, and field deployments.
• Document technical work and manage risks with leadership guidance.
