Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a design engineer to contribute to opto-mechanical design of optical systems. You will design elements, prepare drawings, select materials, and generate documentation for suppliers, ensuring alignment and tolerance.

The role requires experience with CREO, NASTRAN/NX, MATLAB, SolidWorks, CATIA, ZEMAX or similar, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. A related bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a design engineer with a background in optical, optics, lasers, imagers or related area.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optical Sciences, or related field.
• Experience with standard design tools used in Opto-Mechanical design.

Responsibilities

• Researches, plans, designs, develops, and tests optical elements and assemblies to meet performance requirements.
• Designs precision components and mechanisms to enclose and align optical elements within tolerances.
• Generates requirements, specifications, performance budgets, build/test procedures, verification plans, and operating manuals.
