Job summary

Big City Optical LLC is seeking an Optician in Chicago, IL to support eye care services. You will work with the optometrist’s recommendations to match lenses and frames to patient needs, and accurately fit and adjust eyewear for comfort.

You will educate patients on lens options, monitor orders, and provide excellent customer service while handling basic store operations and insurance billing. Travel to nearby locations may be required.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience preferred, not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Adhere to company policies on attendance, dress code and workplace safety.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 10 miles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-examination assessments of patients.
• Work with the optometrist to understand and deliver patient vision requirements.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses.
• Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Educate patients on lens options and benefits.
• Maintain knowledge of eyewear trends and lens technology.
• Monitor orders and update patients on delays.
• Conduct quality checks of orders prior to pickup.
• Handle inventory and participate in occasional counts.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve issues.
• Perform administrative tasks related to patient records and billing.
• Follow up with patients regarding appointments and eyecare availability.
