Job summary

Big City Optical in Illinois is seeking an Optician to join our team and support compassionate eye care. You will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, measure and fit eyewear, and ensure accurate ordering and timely pickup.

You will work closely with the optometrist to fulfill vision requirements, educate patients on lens options, and provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience preferred, not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 10 miles to support coverage at other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-examination assessments of patients.
• Work closely with the optometrist to understand and deliver on patient vision requirements.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their prescription needs and lifestyle.
• Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Educate patients on lens options and benefits to aid informed decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of eyewear trends and lens technology.
• Monitor orders and update patients on delays.
• Conduct quality assessment of orders prior to pickup.
