Job summary

Big City Optical in Chicago seeks an Optician to join our team and support eye care missions. The optician is the main contact for patients, works with the optometrist to match lenses and frames to vision needs, and accurately fits and adjusts eyewear.

Responsibilities include assisting patients, educating on lens options, monitoring orders, and maintaining records. Benefits include incentive plan, medical and dental insurance, 401(k), paid time off; pay range is $20–$24 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 miles for coverage.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses to match prescriptions.
• Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Educate patients on lens options and benefits.
• Coordinate with the optometrist to meet patient vision requirements.
• Monitor orders and inform patients of delays.
• Conduct quality checks before patient pickup.
• Maintain patient records and handle insurance billing.
