Clarkson Eyecare in Breese, IL is hiring an Optical Technician (Medical Assistant). This role dispenses glasses and contacts, assists patients with selecting frames, and takes precise measurements under optometrist/ophthalmologist prescriptions.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, prior medical office experience, and knowledge of lens technologies. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, life insurance, 401k matching and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Dispense glasses and contacts per prescriptions written by optometrists/ophthalmologists.
• Assist patients in selecting frames coordinating with measurements and prescriptions.
• Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate and recommend lenses, coatings and frames to suit patient needs.
• Collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, pantoscopic tilt and pupillary distance.
