Job summary

Lockheed Martin's MFC Business Area in Orlando, FL is seeking an optical engineer to design, analyze, and test complex EO systems for military fire control and missile applications. Immediate start is possible, with a start date through early 2027 for a full-time candidate.

You will develop optical prescriptions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers and mechanical designers, and may travel to optics suppliers as program needs dictate.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Optics, Physics, or a similar major; master's preferred, bachelor's acceptable.
• Ability to work in a collaborative R&D or iPDT environment with multi-tasking.
• Ability to obtain a US DoD security clearance and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Apply research results to achieve desired hardware results.
• Support subcontractor improvements and program cost reduction activities.
• Initiate / support optics-related manufacturability or cost-saving activities.
• Be familiar with CodeV for analysis and tolerancing purposes.
• Maintain system optical prescriptions and tolerance analyses.
• Be willing to travel to optics suppliers to support program requirements.
