Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL seeks a Mechanical Engineering Designer Sr to support development and production of active and passive optical sensor systems. You will generate CREO layouts and detailed drawings, and prepare design documentation for multiple components and subassemblies.

You will collaborate with the Integrated Product Team, suppliers and analysts to build BOMs in Windchill PLM, manage drawing releases, and contribute to design reviews and trade studies for performance, weight

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering related field.
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design engineering principles and demonstrated knowledge of industry practices.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex detailed part and subsystem tolerance analysis
• Minimum 3 years experience with Creo or similar 3D computer-aided design software
• Have the ability to generate engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications
• Have the ability to work with minimal oversight or supervision
• Have the ability to lead investigative efforts and report status to interdisciplinary teams
• Have the ability to perform opto-mechanical layout and tolerancing

Responsibilities

• Creating detailed designs, layouts and drawings for components and subassemblies.
• Develop CREO layouts and detailed drawings; generate design documentation.
• Build BOMs, parts, assemblies and design docs in Windchill PLM.
• Coordinate with the IPT team, suppliers and analysts to ensure design excellence.
• Manage drawing releases, respond to CRs, and support change boards and design reviews.
• Perform design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits.
