Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Santa Barbara seeks an Electro-Optical Engineer to lead a technical team developing state-of-the-art IR sensors for EO/IR focal-plane and camera concepts. You will be the primary liaison to external customers, own schedules, budgets, and EV tracking, while mentoring engineers in mechanical, electrical, and optical design.

You will shape product roadmaps, perform EO/IR analyses, and lead system debugging and risk mitigation. This role requires U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or science.
• Experience with systems engineering and leading complex design trade studies.
• Excellent presentation and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent Lockheed Martin in customer meetings and maintain relationships.
• Shaping EO/IR product roadmaps and supporting current contracts.
• Perform EO/IR analysis and modeling to verify designs meet requirements.
• Act as project engineer: plan tasks, monitor progress and budgets, and track EV metrics.
• Supervise engineers in mechanical, electrical, and optical design.
• Lead system debugging and provide direction during failures.
• Coordinate cross-functional reviews and configuration control.
• Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration.
