Job summary

Walman Optical in Duluth, MN is seeking an Associate Technician 1st Shift (Mon-Fri 8am–4:30pm) to set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on lab equipment in surface/finish areas of the optical production lab.

The role requires interpreting Rx work tickets, operating equipment per procedures, maintaining a clean work area, calibrating equipment daily/weekly, and training less experienced staff as needed. Competitive starting pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic high school level math skills required.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Interpret Rx work tickets and perform production operations on specified equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform basic/routine maintenance of assigned equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions with guidance from supervisor.
• Set up equipment for daily production and prepare necessary lens production solutions and ensure supplies are available.
• Perform daily and weekly calibration of equipment as directed by area supervisor and in accordance with procedures.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area and comply with all attendance and safety rules.
• Provide training and guidance for less experienced employees and participate in training meetings when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
