Job summary

EyeCare Partners in Portsmouth, VA is seeking an Optical Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations of the optical and contact lens department, ensuring policy execution, financial oversight, insurance administration, and staff management.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, training, conducting evaluations, improving processes, verifying insurance, and coordinating patient care while supporting doctors in the optical clinic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Optical and contact lens experience required.
• Prefer two years of Supervisory experience.
• Computer skills and good oral communication required.
• Strong leadership background.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the optical department and assist doctors as needed.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and expertise to all staff members.
• Conduct quarterly discussions with each employee to document evaluations.
• Holders staff accountable for performance expectations.
• Participates in hiring, termination and staff assignments and trains new employees.
• Communicates organization activities to staff and establishes a high-performing team.
• Implements operational systems including Employee Manual, Scheduling, and Telephone System.
• Coordinate patient/insurance collections and insurance submissions.
