Job summary

Walman Optical in Milan, IL is seeking a committed Customer Service Representative (Order Clerk) to manage quotations, stock orders, returns, and purchase orders while building strong customer and vendor relationships.

You will work closely with labs and vendors, verify order statuses, and ensure accurate product data in a fast-paced environment. The role requires professional communication and basic MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
• 1+ year in customer service, hospitality, or call center environment
• Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to maintain composure with difficult customers
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Basic PC skills including MS Office; Word and Excel
• Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds

Responsibilities

• Receive requests for price quotations, orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations from customers and labs
• Build and maintain rapport with customers to deliver the best possible service
• Process returns of lenses, frames, and accessories and generate proper documentation for product return
• Assist in packaging and labeling of frames for auto-kit mailings and maintain mailing lists
• Use a PC to retrieve customer information, stock status, and order status; input changes accurately
• Coordinate with vendors on orders, order status, quotations, and delivery information
• Troubleshoot problems and communicate policies, promotions, and procedures clearly
• Sort and deliver mail across departments and assist with daily backups and close-outs
• Cross-train and learn other department duties; maintain a neat, organized workspace
• Provide training and guidance to less experienced coworkers; participate in training meetings
