Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optical Consultant to work with Optometrists, supporting patient education and care at our Mesa, AZ location. You will perform pre-exam evaluations, help with patient interviews, and coordinate referrals to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced team. This is a part-time opportunity with benefits aligning to a clinical support role.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally collaborate with co-workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation and diagnostic tests.
• Interviews patients to determine medical issues and reasons for visit to inform the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete related paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and state policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using equipment like OCT and visual field assessments.
• Document findings in EHR and assist with clerical duties.
• Ensure efficient scheduling through confirmations and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and manage inventory.
• Contribute to end-of-day wrap-up and office organization.
• May act as scribe for the Optometrist or assist with refractions.
• Perform other duties as requested.
