Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optical Consultant to join our Taunton team. You will support Optometrists, perform preliminary patient evaluations, and help educate patients on eye care.

You’ll also assist with scheduling, documentation, and basic testing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Required are a high school diploma or GED, strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and standard computer applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations before the exam (e.g., dilation, topicals, imaging).
• Interview patients prior to visits to record medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete related paperwork; maintain patient records per HIPAA.
• Answer patient questions by phone about medications and treatments; assist with documentation.
• Assist with diagnostic testing and EHR entries; support clerical duties within the practice.
• Help maximize schedule utilization and contact recall patients for rescheduling.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory.
• Contribute to end-of-day wrap-up and keep frame displays tidy.
• Occasionally act as a scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions.
