Job summary

Meta is seeking an Optical Network Deployment Engineer to plan, execute, and scale deployments across a vast AI backbone network. You will drive migrations, architect complex solutions across data centers, backbone, edge, and cloud environments, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable, automated network processes.

The role requires 5+ years in optical engineering, hands-on experience with DWDM/ROADM/OTN and coherent interfaces, plus willingness to travel ~10%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of optical network engineering, design, or deployment with DWDM/ROADM/OTN and coherent optics.
• Experience with data center, backbone, edge, and public cloud environments.
• Willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Partner with backbone engineering, capacity planning, business and operations teams to translate cross-functional requirements into scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Plan, schedule, and execute complex deployments and migrations across Meta's optical backbone network (long-haul, regional metro, subsea).
• Make independent, high-impact technical and planning decisions affecting backbone deployment and operations.
• Provide technical expertise on deployment and migration across data centers and POPs (space, power, configuration, testing, handoff).
• Collaborate on strategic road mapping and initiatives to prioritize scalable, efficient migrations aligned with business goals.
• Create and analyze network code, automate configurations and migrations through scripting, leveraging AI to enhance operations.
