Job summary

Meta is seeking an Optical Network Deployment Engineer to plan and execute complex deployments and migrations across Meta's optical backbone, data centers, and PoP sites. You will drive scalable infrastructure, collaborating with backbone engineering, capacity planning, and operations to deliver high-impact solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in DWDM, ROADM, OTN, and coherent optics, with a track record of successful deployments in data centers and public cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; degree completed before joining Meta.
• 5+ years experience in optical network engineering, design, or deployment (DWDM/ROADM/OTN/coherent optics).
• Experience with optical line systems and transponder platforms (Ciena, Nokia, Infinera).
• Demonstrated ability to architect and deploy complex network solutions across data centers, backbone, edge, and cloud.
• Experience in field-based work in 3rd party facilities, Internet exchanges, and data centers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable infrastructure.
• Plan, schedule, and execute complex deployments and migrations across the optical backbone.
• Make independent technical and planning decisions affecting deployment and operations.
• Provide technical expertise on deployment and migration across data centers and POPs.
• Contribute to road-mapping and initiatives to prioritize scalable, efficient migrations.
• Develop OTn deployment/migration strategies for data centers and cloud platforms.
• Create and analyze network code, automate configurations and migrations, leveraging AI to improve operations.
• Prepare implementation plans including MOP, BOM, and EDP.
• Maintain standards for builds and design packages for metro, regional, and long-haul DWDM.
