Job summary

Meta is seeking an Optical Network Deployment Engineer to plan, implement, and scale deployments across Meta's global optical backbone and edge networks. You will drive migrations, propose scalable infrastructure solutions, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time.

You will oversee architecture and deployment across data centers, backbone, and public cloud environments, with a focus on DWDM, ROADM, OTN, and coherent optics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, CE or equivalent; completion before joining Meta.
• 5+ years in optical network engineering, DWDM/ROADM/OTN and coherent optics.
• Experience with optical line systems and transponder platforms (Ciena, Nokia, Infinera).
• Proven ability to architect and deploy complex network solutions across data centers, backbone, edge and cloud.
• Willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with backbone engineering and operations to build scalable infrastructure.
• Plan, schedule, and execute complex deployments and migrations across the optical backbone.
• Make independent technical decisions affecting deployment and operations.
• Provide expertise on deployment and migration across data centers and POPs.
• Contribute to roadmapping and initiatives for scalable migrations.
• Create MOP, BOM, and EDP documents.
• Leverage AI and automation to improve network operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and partner engineering teams.
• Drive workflow tooling requirements and data-driven health metrics.
