Job summary

Meta seeks an Optical Network Deployment Engineer to plan and execute migrations across a vast backbone, edge and optical network. You will drive architectural decisions, collaborate with backbone, capacity planning and operations, and deliver scalable, automated deployment plans.

You will contribute to OTN strategies, data center migrations and AI-enabled enhancements, while maintaining robust design standards and vendor relationships. This role requires travel and senior-level expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience; degree completed before joining Meta.
• 5+ years of optical network engineering, design or deployment with DWDM/ROADM/OTN and coherent optics.
• Experience with optical line systems and transponder platforms (e.g., Ciena, Nokia, Infinera).
• Experience architecting deploying complex network solutions across data centers, backbone, edge and public cloud.
• Willingness to travel ~10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and execute complex deployments and migrations across Meta's optical backbone network.
• Provide technical expertise on deployment and migration across data centers and POPs (space & power, configuration, testing, handoff).
• Create implementation plans including MOP, BOM, and EDP.
• Collaborate on roadmapping and initiatives to prioritize scalable migrations.
• Develop automation for network configurations and migrations; leverage AI to improve operations.
