Job summary

Walmart’s Sam's Club Optical department seeks an Optical Associate to support eyewear sales, measurements, and repairs. You will assist members with purchases, ensure accurate pupillary distance and lens choices, and manage orders and inspections under guidance.

The role emphasizes adherence to HIPAA, processing insurance claims, and maintaining equipment cleanliness while delivering customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain ABO certification within 15 months of hire.
• Must meet state licensure requirements for apprenticeship or licensed optician; licensure within 18 months; ensure ongoing certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with eyewear purchases, measurements, and frame adjustments.
• Take pupillary distance measurements and determine lens wear for various lenses.
• Process eyewear and contact lens orders and coordinate with labs and optometrists.
• Perform final inspection of eyewear and troubleshoot non-adapt issues.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and manage insurance claims related to eye care materials.
