Job summary

Walmart is seeking an Optical Associate at the Portage, MI location to stock, assist customers with eyewear, and manage measurements and orders. You will help with pricing, inventory, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and company policies.

You will perform frame adjustments, verify prescriptions, and process payments and insurance claims while providing high-quality customer service in a retail optical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; ABO certification within 15 months of hire; state licensure requirements for apprenticeship/licensure where applicable.
• Willingness to complete ABO certification and state licensure within the stated timelines.
• Prior experience in optical retail or lab processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Stock and present merchandise on the sales floor and in the Optical area per policy.
• Assist members with eyewear purchases, measure pupillary distance, and verify prescription information.
• Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and final eyewear inspection before dispensing.
• Process eyewear and contact lens orders and manage insurance claims and payments where applicable.
• Schedule and confirm member visits, appointments, and document compliance with HIPAA and company procedures.
• Maintain and file records; handle claims, returns, and refunds; operate POS system.

Education

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
