Job summary

Talus Development is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician in Phoenix, AZ to install, splice and test fiber cables in diverse environments and complete as-built documentation.

You will troubleshoot down to element level using traces and testing, read splice details, perform OTDR and power-meter tests, and mentor newer technicians on site.

A valid Arizona driver license, ETA Fiber Technician certification and strict safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Arizona driver license and clean record.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Proficiency with Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
• Requires ability to lift 70 lbs.
• Must be able to read splice details and complete as-built docs accordingly.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow NESC and other safety conditions.
• Proficiency with EXFO 715 OTDR or newer version and interpret results.
• Edits and updates customer required documentation; as-built docs.

Responsibilities

• Prep and install fiber cables into various enclosure types; includes fusion splicing per customer specs.
• Troubleshoot down to element level based on traces and testing results.
• Read splice details and complete as-built documentation.
• Test light levels with EXFO or similar power meter.
• Assist in field training of newer technicians and ensure safety.
• Coordinate with project planners and perform OLT augmentation/testing.
