Job summary

Talus Development is seeking a skilled fiber technician for on-site deployment of fiber networks. You will splice fibers, perform testing, and ensure documentation accuracy on customer sites. Strong safety awareness and ability to work in challenging environments are essential.

Role requires 4+ years in fiber optics, ETA certification, and proficiency with EXFO OTDRs and power meters. You will train junior techs and coordinate with project planners on site locations.

Qualifications

• Arizona driver license and clean record required.
• Ability to problem solve and follow documented instructions.
• Proficient with Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs and work on stairs/ladders/bucket trucks.
• Experience with fiber prep, installation, and fusion splicing per specs.
• Read splice details and complete as-built docs accurately.
• Troubleshoot to element level using traces/testing.
• Knowledge of NESC and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking.
• ETA Fiber Technician certification preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of fiber optic splicing/troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and install fiber cables into enclosure types per spec.
• Fusion splice fibers within customer parameters.
• Read splice details and prepare as-built documentation.
• Troubleshoot fiber network using traces and testing results.
• Test light level with EXFO or similar power meter.
• Support field training of newer technicians.
• Assist with OLM activations and speed tests.
• Coordinate with Cox Comm project planners.
• Update customer documentation and invoicing data.
