Job summary

Talus Development is seeking an ETA Fiber Technician to support field operations in Phoenix, AZ. This role requires a valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean record, ETA Fiber Technician certification, and a minimum of 2 years of fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience.

You must be able to lift up to 70 lbs and work on sites with stairs, ladders, bucket trucks, and uneven terrain, outdoors in heat and cold.

Qualifications

  • Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • ETA Fiber Technician certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to work on sites with stairs, ladders, bucket trucks, and uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Must be able to distinguish between different color fiber jackets.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and follow detailed instructions.
  • Knowledge of NESC and applicable state/local safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete commitment to quality, following industry and customer standards
  • Assist with field training of Fiber Tech I team members
  • Edit and update customer-required documentation (e.g., as-built docs)
  • Provide accurate and clear invoicing data to leadership
  • Prepare and install fiber cables into various enclosure types (new and existing)
  • Fusion splice fibers within customer specifications
  • Read and interpret splice details; complete accurate as-built documentation
  • Troubleshoot down to the element level using traces and test results
  • Proficiency with EXFO 715 OTDR (or newer) and interpreting results
  • Perform light level testing using EXFO or similar power meter
  • Experience with loose tube, spider ribbon, and other common cable types
  • Troubleshoot back to and including ODN
  • Successfully complete OLM activations and speed tests
