Job summary

The University of Florida seeks an OPS Assistant - AIBHS Student & Faculty Support Specialist based at Jacksonville Campus. This part-time role provides direct academic support and tutoring in Python and R for students new to coding, and serves as in-room classroom support for synchronous AIBHS courses.

You will hold tutoring hours, develop materials, monitor progress, manage exam logistics, and assist with classroom technology.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated coding proficiency in Python and R, with the ability to explain foundational programming concepts to students with no prior coding background.

Job Description

Classification Title:OPS Assistant - AIBHS Student & Faculty Support Specialist

Classification Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Based in Jacksonville, this OPS position provides direct academic support and tutoring to AIBHS students, particularly those with little or no prior coding experience, and serves as in-room classroom support (a TA-type role) for AIBHS courses taught synchronously by Gainesville-based faculty.

Essential Functions

Student Tutoring and Academic Support

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in Python and R to students with limited or no coding background.
• Develop supplemental instructional materials.
• Hold regular tutoring and office hours.
• Monitor student progress and identify students needing additional intervention or referral.

Classroom Support

• Serve as in-room presence for synchronously taught AIBHS courses, ensuring smooth session delivery.
• Troubleshoot classroom technology and connectivity issues.
• Administer in-classroom exams and assessments under the instructor of record's direction.

Expected Salary

$18 - $24/hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated coding proficiency in Python and R, with the ability to explain foundational programming concepts to students with no prior coding background.
• Preference will be given to candidates whose schedule allows them to be present at 801 W Bay St. Jacksonville, FL during AIBHS class times (TU/TH 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 4:00-7:30 PM, W 4:30-6:30 PM).
• Prior experience as a teaching assistant or tutor is preferred.
