Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an energetic Ophthalmology Veterinary Assistant to support treatments and diagnostics for stable ophthalmology patients. Schedule is Weekdays, 4x10s.

Pay ranges from $22.50 to $32.80 per hour with shift differentials; evening and weekend premiums apply. You will restrain patients, place catheters, set up CRI, operate ocular ultrasound and retinal camera, and assist with eyelid tacking, keratotomy, and cryoablation under supervision.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, calm handling of patients per safety protocols and core values.
• Ability to recognize abnormal heart and lung sounds.
• Restraint of aggressive canine and feline patients.
• Place peripheral IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Set up and manage CRIs.
• Explain hospital estimates and discharge instructions to clients.
• Prepare medications and patients for discharge with clear directions.
• Set up ocular ultrasound and retinal camera.
• Assist with eyelid tacking, corneal debridement, burr/grid keratotomy, and cryoablation.

Responsibilities

• Care for ophthalmology patients and assist with diagnostics.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort according to protocols.
• Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in ophthalmology.
