Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our ophthalmology team alongside a board-certified Ophthalmologist. The role offers a sign-on bonus and a pay range of $30.00–$51.00 per hour, with compensation dependent on experience and advancement through competency assessments.

Responsibilities include performing basic and advanced ophthalmic tests, assisting in a range of outpatient procedures and surgeries, and educating clients about ocular care.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
• Interest or experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
• Ability to assist with ophthalmic diagnostics and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests and assist with detailed ocular examinations.
• Conduct advanced ophthalmic diagnostic tests.
• Set up and assist with outpatient and surgical ophthalmic procedures.
• Assist with eyelid surgeries, cherry eye, corneal grafts, cataract and retinal surgeries.
• Place IV catheters, manage anesthesia in ophthalmic cases as needed.
• Organize and maintain ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
• Educate clients on their pet's ocular disease and care.
