BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is hiring an Ophthalmology Veterinary Assistant to support our ophthalmology patients with compassionate, professional care.

You will assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, restrain canines and felines when necessary, prepare medications, and present clear estimates to clients. The role features a Weekdays, 4x10s schedule, competitive hourly pay with shift differentials and opportunities for growth within Mars Veterinary Health.

Formación

• Energetic, passionate, and driven Veterinary Assistant candidate for Ophthalmology.
• Experience or willingness to work in ophthalmology environment preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Care for ophthalmology patients following safety protocols.
• Restrain canine and feline patients as needed.
• Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (eyelid tacking, corneal debridement, burr/grid keratotomy, cryoablation).
• Set up for ocular ultrasound and retinal imaging.
• Prepare medications and discharge instructions for clients.
• Explain hospital estimates clearly to clients.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is now hiring an energetic, passionate, and driven Veterinary Assistant for our Ophthalmology department.

Schedule

Weekdays, 4x10s

Pay

$22.50 - $32.80 per hour plus competitive shift differentials based on experience and competency assessment.

Shift Differentials

• Mon – Fri: 6 pm to 8 am = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 8 am to 6 pm = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 6 pm to 8 am = +$8.00/hr.

Role Overview

As an Ophthalmology Veterinary Assistant, you will be responsible for treating and diagnosing stable ophthalmology patients.

Responsibilities

• Compassionately, calmly, and gently approach and handle patients according to safety protocols and core values.
• Recognize abnormal heart and lung sounds.
• Appropriately restrain aggressive canine and feline patients.
• Place peripheral over‑needle catheter in all peripheral vessels.
• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Understand hospital estimates and clearly present and explain them to clients.
• Prepare medications and patients/clients for discharge with concise directions.
• Set up for ocular ultrasound and retinal camera.
• Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
  • Eyelid tacking
  • Corneal debridement and burr/grid keratotomy
  • Cryoablation
