Astellas Pharma, Inc. is seeking a Market Development Manager to lead advocacy efforts among key thought leaders in Retina, Comprehensive Ophthalmology, and Optometry.

The role collaborates with Sales, Field Medical, Reimbursement, and Marketing to support peer-to-peer education and gather customer insights for brand strategy. The position requires strong clinical acumen, 8+ years in pharma/biotech, exceptional communication, and extensive travel across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or business; 8+ years in pharma/biotech; strong clinical acumen in ophthalmology; cross-functional leadership capabilities; excellent communication and organizational skills; extensive travel within the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute plans to increase advocacy with key thought leaders in Retina, Comprehensive Ophthalmology, and Optometry for GA treatment and Izervay.
• Represent the company in customer engagements and ophthalmology conferences.
• Collect and share customer insights to inform matrixed teams and brand strategy.
• Demonstrate disease state and product knowledge in Retina, Ophthalmology, and Optometry.
• Collaborate with Sales, Field Medical, and Reimbursement to develop strategic plans with national and regional thought leaders.
• Support marketing in identifying thought leaders for speaker bureaus and peer-to-peer education.
• Establish connections with regional ophthalmology societies and manage relationships across EU, US, and Japan time zones.
