Outlook Eyecare in Monroe Twp., NJ, part of Prism Vision Group, seeks an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians with measurements, tests, and documentation. You will perform ocular and systemic history taking, acuity recording, lensometry, refractometry, and OCT among other diagnostic duties, while ensuring high-quality patient care.

The role requires 4–6 years ophthalmic assistant experience and a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Aufgaben

• Take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.
• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history.
• Acts as scribe while physician examines patient entering data into electronic medical records.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp examination including applanation tonometry, anterior chamber angle assessment and gross external exam, ocular muscle motility and balance testing, assess pupils and confrontation visual fields.
• Administers diagnostic tests – OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry
• Performs manifest refraction
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications
• Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, sets up and cleans up from procedures.
• Assists in training other ophthalmic assistants.
• Assists with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the work day.
• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer.
• Maintains a positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
