Job summary

PRISM Vision Group in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant for an onsite, nonexempt role at NJRetina. Occasional travel to other locations may be required. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $34.68 per hour, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities include taking ocular and systemic histories, performing tests such as OCT and visual fields, acting as a scribe, and assisting with patient education and medications. High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; OAII 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Records ocular and systemic history and visual acuity.
• Performs testing (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and anterior chamber checks.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with informed consent, patient education, and office procedures.
• Oversees patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
