Job summary

Outlook Eyecare in Monroe Township, NJ seeks an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians with measurements, tests and patient exams. This onsite role involves scleral tests, history taking, scribe duties, and operation of EMR systems, with occasional travel to other Prism Vision Group locations.

The ideal candidate has a High School/GED, 4–6 years ophthalmic assistant experience, and Certified Ophthalmic Assistant credential.

Qualifications

Education: High School/GED; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline highly preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Experience: 4-6 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

Take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.
Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information; perform testing required by exam scheduled and history.
Acts as scribe while physician examines patient entering data into electronic medical records.
Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry and field testing.
Administers diagnostic tests – OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
Performs manifest refraction; administers ophthalmic medications.
Assist with in-office procedures ensuring informed consent and setup/cleanup.
Assist in training other ophthalmic assistants and patient education.
