Job summary

Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates in San Antonio, TX seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists by collecting patient data and performing clinical tests.

You will act as a medical scribe, document histories, record visual acuity, administer medications as directed, and assist with in-office procedures while maintaining exam room cleanliness and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred.
• COA Eligibility preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist ophthalmologist and optometrist by gathering data pertaining to patient ocular health status.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by exam type, patient history or complaint.
• Act as medical scribe, entering data into electronic medical records.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and maintain clean, organized exam rooms.
• Comply with all procedures, protocols, and regulations.
