Job summary

Eyecare Associates of East Texas is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists by performing preliminary tests, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for exams. The ideal candidate will display professional patient care, strong communication, and strict HIPAA adherence.

The role includes operating diagnostic equipment (OCT, GDX, visual fields), maintaining EMR documentation, and assisting with minor procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum required: High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current COA/COT certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and manage a positive patient experience.
• Anticipate physician needs to facilitate clinic flow.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions.
• Record patient medical history and medications; verify visit purpose.
• Enter data into the EMR accurately and completely.
• Operate ophthalmic testing equipment (e.g., OCT, visual fields, autorefractor).
• Prepare patients for examinations and minor procedures; record vitals.
• Keep rooms stocked and clean, and manage patient flow across multiple locations.
