Job summary

Community Eye Care Specialists is seeking an ophthalmic technician to assist the ophthalmologists and optometrists with clinical testing, data gathering, and EMR entry. You will collect ocular health data, perform prescribed tests, and document history and visual acuity.

Responsibilities include administering medications under physician direction, aiding with in-office procedures, and educating patients while maintaining exam room cleanliness and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred.
  • Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
  • Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform tests ordered by the doctor based on exam type and history.
  • Enter data into EMR as a medical scribe when physician examines patient.
  • Record ocular and systemic history and visual acuity.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
  • Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
  • Educate patients and maintain exam room cleanliness.
  • Comply with procedures and state/federal regulations.
