Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is seeking an ophthalmic technician for Eye Center of north Florida in the Florida panhandle. You will assist ophthalmologists and optometrists, perform clinical tests, and document patient health information.

You will take histories, record visual acuity, and help with in-office procedures while maintaining clinic efficiency and patient education. Applies to a fast-paced ophthalmic setting with strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• COA eligibility preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Perform testing ordered by the doctor based on exam type, history, or patient concerns.
• Act as a medical scribe and enter data into electronic medical records.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure informed consent.
• Educate patients and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Comply with practice procedures, protocols, and regulations.
• Document quality reporting requirements and testing frequency.
