Job summary

EyeSouth Partners in San Antonio, TX seeks an ophthalmic technician to assist physicians and optometrists by collecting patient data and performing clinical tests. You will document ocular history, record visual acuity, and help with in-office procedures and medications under supervision.

The role requires solid understanding of eye care principles, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred
• COA Eligibility preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Act as medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records.
• Take an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
