Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is hiring an Ophthalmic technician to support a high-volume ophthalmic practice across multiple Georgia locations, including Tifton, Douglas, and Valdosta. The role emphasizes patient care, accurate testing, and teamwork with physicians.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while traveling between offices as needed; COA preferred and a focus on confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must have customer service and interpersonal skills, and be able to work with some independent decision-making.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologist during exams and procedures.
  • Obtain and document patient history and visual acuity.
  • Perform automated and manual refractions and keratometry.
  • Administer eye drops and prepare patients for surgery or imaging.
  • Enter data into EMR and provide patient services.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with postoperative patient education.

Job description

South Georgia North Florida Eye Partners offers a variety of eye care services from detection and medical treatment of eye diseases and injuries to advanced procedures including Lasik and cataract surgeries. We also have an on‑site Optical Shop that carries the latest in designer frames and sunglasses. We offer several locations including Tifton, Douglas and 2 locations in Valdosta Georgia.

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high‑volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision‑making.

Ophthalmic skills
  • Obtaining and documenting patient history
  • Determining visual acuity
  • Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes
  • Performing basic lensometry
  • Pupillary assessment
  • Visual field testing
  • PAM
  • Basic ocular motility assessment
  • Automated keratometry
  • Osmolarity testing
  • Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
  • Performing office duties and clinical tasks – entering data into EMR, providing patient services
  • Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)
  • Pre‑operative preparation of patient
  • Maintaining equipment and instruments
  • Perform ocular imaging including OCT
  • Topography
  • Post‑operative education
  • 3‑5 years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred
  • COA preferred
  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required
  • Must be flexible with traveling to various locations
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable
  • The ability to recognize inconsistencies
