Job summary

EyeSouth Partners in Georgia seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support a high-volume practice across several offices in Valdosta and surrounding areas. The role requires accurate data entry into EMR, patient services, and independent decision-making.

Qualified candidates will have high school diploma, 3–5 years’ experience, and COA preferred. Travel to multiple locations is required; benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school.
3–5 years ophthalmic technician experience preferred.
COA preferred.
Must have dependable transportation to travel to other offices.

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient history.
Determine visual acuity.
Perform automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes.
Perform basic lensometry and pupillary assessment.
Conduct visual field testing and ocular motility assessments.
Administer eye drops and manage eye irrigation as ordered.
Enter data into EMR and provide patient services.
Conduct ocular imaging including OCT and Topography.
Post-operative education and equipment maintenance.

Job description

South Georgia North Florida Eye Partners offers a variety of eye care services from detection and medical treatment of eye diseases and injuries to advanced procedures including Lasik and cataract surgeries. We also have an on-site Optical Shop that carries the latest in designer frames and sunglasses. We offer several locations including Tifton, Douglas and 2 locations in Valdosta Georgia.

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

Ophthalmic skills include

Obtaining and documenting patient history
Determining visual acuity
Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes
Performing basic lensometry
Pupillary assessment
Visual field testing
PAM
Basic ocular motility assessment
Automated keratometry
Osmolarity testing
Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services
Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)
Pre-operative preparation of patient
Maintaining equipment and instruments
Perform ocular imaging including OCT,
Topography
Post-operative education
3-5 years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred
