Vision Innovation Partners in Virginia is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. You will assist the ophthalmologists with diagnostic and treatment procedures and handle related administrative tasks, with on‑the‑job training provided.

A high school diploma or GED is required; prior medical experience and familiarity with EMR tools and MS Office are helpful. Experience as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician etc.
• Experience with EMR tools.
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as appliance tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy.
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues.
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam.
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications.
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses.
• Assist with inventory management.
