Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. You will assist providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and handle administrative tasks, with on-the-job training provided to help you develop into an ophthalmic technician or scribe.

The ideal candidate has medical experience, a high school diploma or GED, and familiarity with EMR tools. MS Office skills are a plus, and prior ophthalmic technician or scribe experience is helpful.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
  • Medical/clinical experience is preferred.
  • Experience using EMR tools is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is a plus.
  • Experience as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and verify information.
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests.
  • Use devices like Humphrey field analyzer and OCT for eye measurements.
  • Notify ophthalmologist of changes in visual acuity or eye issues.
  • Dilate eyes to prepare for eye exams.
  • Instruct patients on proper use of eye drops or medications.
  • Educate on proper contact lens care and use.
  • Assist with inventory management.

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. Our ideal candidate would have medical experience and passion for patient care. We are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work towards a career path of an ophthalmic technician or scribe. In this role, your primary tasks are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
  • Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
  • Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
  • Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
  • Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
  • Explain how to properly use contact lenses
  • Assist with inventory management
Qualifications
What You Will Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Previous experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician etc.
  • Experience with EMR tools
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)
  • Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus
