Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners in Harrisburg is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician II to assist with diagnostic and treatment procedures and related administrative tasks in a patient-care role.

Ideal candidates have ophthalmic technician or scribe experience, EMR familiarity, and MS Office proficiency. On-the-job training toward COA/COT certification is available, with competitive pay and strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must have healthcare experience, preferably ophthalmic
  • On-the-job training toward certification available for right candidate
  • Experience with EMR tools is required
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT)

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests (tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy)
  • Use equipment to take eye measurements (Humphrey analyzer, OCT)
  • Inform ophthalmologist about changes in vision or acuity
  • Dilate eyes for exams
  • Explain eye drop and medication usage
  • Explain contact lens usage
  • Assist with inventory management

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician II to join our patient care team. Our ideal candidate is already a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician. However, we are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work toward certification. In this role, your primary tasks are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
  • Take medical histories and verify information
  • Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
  • Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
  • Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
  • Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
  • Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
  • Explain how to properly use contact lenses
  • Assist with inventory management
Qualifications
