Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners in Harrisburg seeks an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. The role supports providers with diagnostic tests and patient education, with on-the-job training available for career growth in ophthalmic tech or scribe paths.

Responsibilities include taking medical histories, performing vision tests, using Humphrey field analyzer and OCT, dilating eyes, and assisting with inventory and medication guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in medical field roles such as medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, or pharmacy technician is a plus.
• Experience with EMR tools and MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests such as tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy.
• Utilize tools like Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
• Inform ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues.
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam.
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications.
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses.
• Assist with inventory management.

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. Our ideal candidate would have medical experience and passion for patient care. We are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work towards a career path of an ophthalmic technician or scribe. In this role, your primary tasks are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.
