Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, Oregon, is seeking an Ophthalmology Technician to provide clinical and administrative support in the ophthalmology clinic. You will perform eye testing, measurements, and patient education while ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR and coordinating referrals and authorizations.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, BLS/CPR, and ophthalmic training preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) training preferred.
• Current BLS and CPR certifications required.
• Minimum one year of ophthalmology office experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic testing and visual assessments.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations.
• Accurately document test results in the EMR.
• Process and route ophthalmic prescription refills.
• Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations for eye care services.
• Support front office duties and maintain ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
