EHN is seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our Portland clinic. You will perform ocular diagnostic tests, assist physicians, and educate patients while maintaining high standards of patient care and customer service.

This role requires effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to clinical procedures. Primary duties include preparing patients, recording histories, performing tests, and ensuring clean, well-equipped exam rooms.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification or able to obtain within 12 months; Home Study Course within 90 days.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.

Aufgaben

• Communicate with patients in a professional and courteous manner; introduce self and explain role to patient/family; acquaint patient with clinic procedures; explain purpose of tests and potential effects.
• Obtain medical and family histories, including ocular and systemic history and chief complaint.
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform diagnostic tests for accurate diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease.
• Take ocular measurements and test visual acuity and fields; perform refractions as directed.
• Ensure exam rooms and equipment are clean and prepared; may scribe as required.
• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy; manage patient flow and administer topical ophthalmic drops under physician direction.
• Assist with patient portal/inbox tasks and maintain pharmacology knowledge for refills via EHR or phone.
• Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism with physicians, staff, and patients; adhere to HIPAA and OSHA.
