Job summary

EyeHealth Northwest is seeking an ophthalmic technician to support clinicians in a busy East Portland clinic. You will perform diagnostic tests, take ocular measurements and assist in patient education, while maintaining high standards of patient care and service.

The role requires a High School diploma, COA certification or eligibility within 12 months, and prior ophthalmic experience preferred. This is a full‑time, day-shift position with no travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; COA certification or within 12 months of hire is expected.
  • Minimum one year ophthalmic experience preferred; knowledge of ocular terminology a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and rotate to worksites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with patients in a professional, courteous manner and explain procedures.
  • Obtain ocular and systemic histories and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and take ocular measurements and refract tests as directed.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and assist physician and staff as needed.
  • Scribe as required by provider and ensure accurate charting and HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist with patient flow and provide education to patients and families.
