Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care seeks an Ophthalmology Technician to provide clinical and administrative support in the ophthalmology clinic. You will perform eye tests, obtain medical histories, document findings, and assist in procedures.

You will coordinate referrals and ensure proper documentation in the electronic health record system. The role requires the ability to educate patients, manage medications, and support a team to deliver high-quality eye care while maintaining safety and efficiency

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.
• Current BLS and CPR certifications.
• Minimum of one-year experience in office-based ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

• Patient intake and preparation for ophthalmic care.
• Perform ophthalmic testing and visual assessments.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures; maintain sterile equipment.
• Administer ophthalmic medications as directed.
• Educate patients on medications, tests, and procedures.
• Document results and maintain ophthalmic EHR notes.
• Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations for eye care services.
