Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to assist an Eye Center Physician and staff in performing diagnostic tests for eye problems.

You will screen patients, collect medical data for charts, coordinate testing, and explain procedures to patients and families to ease concerns.

You will calibrate instruments, help with minor office and laser procedures, maintain supplies, and ensure smooth patient flow in a busy ophthalmology setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year minimum as a Medical Office Assistant or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review, including central and peripheral visual field tests; ocular motility tests; color vision tests; pharmacological pupil tests; tonometry, tonography and tensilon tonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation.
