Job summary

SightMD, a rapidly growing ophthalmic provider group with multiple locations, seeks a Senior Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians and coordinate patient flow. You will perform pre-exam testing, advanced diagnostic procedures, and assist during exams and minor surgeries while documenting in the EMR and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The position requires at least two years of ophthalmic technician experience, strong customer service, and certification milestones (OSC/COA).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
• Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
• Skilled in problem-solving with strong attention to detail
• Proficient in computer use, ranging from basic to advanced tasks
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• OSC certification within 45 days of hire or COA certification within two years of hire

Responsibilities

• Engage with patients and families to ensure a positive experience
• Review and document patient information including history and systems
• Coordinate and obtain prior authorizations for medications
• Perform comprehensive pre-examination testing and advanced diagnostics
• Scribe clinical encounters in the EMR and document treatment plans
• Administer ocular medications as prescribed
• Assist during patient examinations and minor procedures
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy
• Open and close exam rooms and maintain equipment
