Job summary

Northwest Eyes is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. You will assist ophthalmologists with patient workups, diagnostic exams, and ophthalmic testing, while maintaining accurate medical records and patient flow.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year experience as ophthalmic assistant; COA or COT preferred.
  • Maintains appropriate education and training.
  • Willing to help in all areas; comfortable in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close exam lanes and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Communicate patient flow with the team to keep schedules on time.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and waiting area for patients.
  • Complete documents and forms such as consent forms, work releases, etc.
  • Take patients' medical histories and perform ophthalmic diagnostic exams.
  • Operate ophthalmic equipment.
  • Sterilize instruments to maintain equipment.
  • Instruct patients in care and treatment of eye conditions.
  • Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete.
  • Triage patient calls from patients and outside contacts.

Job Summary:

Northwest Eyes is a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice. We are searching for an Ophthalmic Technician to add to our team. Our Company is nationally recognized, with vast clinical experience in a wide variety of eye surgical services, advanced technology, and proven results. Work in a team-oriented clinical environment, taking pride in and providing outstanding patient care. Team members are responsible for providing accurate documentation. Maintain patient flow and communication regarding appointment status. Assist Ophthalmologists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions, such as patient workups and special testing. May administer eye medications and instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Help instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions
  • Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete
  • Triage phone calls from patients and outside contacts
  • Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of medical coding terminology and conventions.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, G-suite environments.
  • Willing to help in all areas; have the flexibility to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing
  • Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and patient confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant; experienced COA or COT preferred.
  • Maintains appropriate education and training.
