Job summary

Northwest Eye Surgeons, a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice in Seattle, seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to join a nationally recognized eye care team. You will perform comprehensive testing, document findings, and support physicians with examinations and laser treatments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong computer skills incl. Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy clinical setting.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to assist where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient workups and ophthalmic testing.
  • Accurately document examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations, procedures, and in-office laser treatments.
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations.
  • Ensure patients understand physician instructions and follow-up care.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and communicate appointment status.
  • Administer ophthalmic medications as directed.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
  • Triage patient phone calls according to clinical protocols.
  • Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal.

Position Summary

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting physicians, ensuring efficient patient flow, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with both patients and providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient workups and ophthalmic testing
  • Accurately document examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations, procedures, and in-office laser treatments
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations
